1. WE RESPECT YOUR PRIVACY

(a) Catoptica Pty Ltd respects your right to privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use our mobile application (“the App”).

(b) “Personal information” means information or an opinion about an identifiable individual. The App is designed to function without requiring an account login, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or contact details through the App.

2. CATOPTICA COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

Catoptica does not intentionally collect information that directly identifies you (such as name, email, or account credentials). Certain technical identifiers (such as IP address or device identifiers) may be processed by third-party services strictly for app functionality, analytics, subscriptions, or advertising, as described below.

2.1. When you use our Application

When you download or use the App, certain non-personal information may be collected automatically, such as:

mobile device ID
IP address
device type
operating system
general usage statistics

This data is processed securely within the infrastructure of the app distributor (Apple App Store / Google Play Store), Firebase, RevenueCat, or Google Admob.

2.2. Data Collection and Privacy

(a) Firebase Crashlytics: We use Firebase Crashlytics to monitor app stability and diagnose issues. Crashlytics automatically collects:

device model
operating system version
crash reports and stack traces
whether the app was backgrounded
anonymised crash identifiers

(b) RevenueCat (Subscription Management): We use RevenueCat to manage in-app subscription purchases. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous app user ID to your device to validate your device's subscription status.

Catoptica does not knowingly serve personalised advertising to users under the age of 16.

Where required by platform policy or user consent settings, non-personalised ads may be shown.

(d) Firebase Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to understand general app usage patterns.

(f) No cookies or web-based tracking: The App does not use cookies. No tracking occurs beyond what is required for subscriptions, analytics, and advertising as described above.

(g) Parental Lock PIN: If you enable the parental lock feature, the PIN is stored locally on your device only and is never transmitted, uploaded, or shared.

2.3. Device Data Access

The App does not automatically access your camera, microphone, stored media, photos, or contacts. When you choose to record video from inside the app, the App will request access to your device’s camera and microphone solely for the purpose of recording videos that capture the App’s outputs in relation to the real-time events around you.

Any video or audio recorded is stored locally on your device.
We do not collect, store, or process videos, audio recordings, outputs, or images created using the App.
Users may share recordings through their own device’s sharing functions. Catoptica Pty Ltd has no access to and no control over shared content.

2.6. Links to Third-Party Platforms

The App may include links to external community platforms, including Discord, for users who wish to connect with other Catoptica users.

If you choose to access a third-party platform via a link in the App:

You will be subject to the terms, privacy policy, and data practices of that third-party service.
Catoptica Pty Ltd does not control, collect, access, or process any information shared on Discord or other third-party platforms.
Any account creation, age verification, data collection, or interactions on Discord occur independently of the App and are governed solely by Discord’s policies.

Once you leave the App, we have no ability to restrict, monitor, or control your interactions on third-party platforms.

We encourage users to review Discord’s Privacy Policy and Terms before joining the community.

2.7. Age Requirements and Children’s Privacy

The App is intended for users aged 16 years and older.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 16.

If you are under 16, you must not use external community links, including Discord.

We do not perform independent age verification. Age eligibility is self-asserted by users, with optional parental controls provided within the App.

If we become aware that personal information has been collected from a user under 16 in a manner inconsistent with this policy, we will take reasonable steps to delete such information.

While we do not perform independent age verification, access to external community spaces administered by Catoptica may be restricted or revoked if we become aware that a user does not meet the stated age requirements or has violated community safety rules.

2.8. Opt out right

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it through your mobile device’s standard uninstall process. All locally stored settings (including parental lock) will be deleted when the App is removed.

3. WEBSITE COLLECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

You may choose to contact Catoptica directly through email or our website.

If you contact us, we may receive and store personal information such as your name and email address for support or feedback purposes.

Our website may use cookies to improve user experience. You may disable cookies in your browser settings.

4. USE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

If you provide us with personal information, Catoptica Pty Ltd may use the information provided to:

validate and manage subscription access
monitor and improve app performance
understand app usage patterns
respond to user inquiries
meet legal obligations
protect the legal rights and safety of users and Catoptica Pty Ltd

5. DISCLOSURE OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

(a) We may disclose information to employees, contractors, service providers, advisers, or subcontractors where reasonably necessary for delivering our services.

(b) We may disclose information where required by law, regulation, court order, or law enforcement request.

(c) We may use information to protect the rights, safety, and property of Catoptica Pty Ltd, the App, users, or third parties.

(d) Data may be processed or stored by third-party service providers, including Google (Firebase, AdMob) and RevenueCat, which may operate in jurisdictions outside Australia such as the United States or the European Union. We take reasonable steps to ensure these providers comply with equivalent privacy protections under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), GDPR, or applicable regulations.

(e) By using the App, you consent to the disclosures outlined above.

(f) Information is retained only as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes of collection, except where a longer period is required by law.

6. SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

(a) Catoptica Pty Ltd implements electronic and managerial safeguards to protect your information against misuse, loss, unauthorised access, or disclosure.

(b) While we take strong precautions, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure.

(c) In the event of a data breach involving personal information, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities within required legal timeframes under GDPR, the Australian Privacy Act, or other applicable regulations.

7. ACCESS TO YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You may request details of personal information we hold about you by contacting us in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). We may refuse access in circumstances outlined in the Act.
